Alone? Recommended DMM roles for getting started

Steve Jobs, a man who knew a thing or two about harnessing the power of teams, once said, “Great things in business are never done by one person; they’re done by a team of people.”

You CAN launch a M2DMM strategy.

You signed up for Kingdom.Training, checked out the course material, and probably one of the first things you thought about was, “Who do I need around me to do this thing well? Is it realistic to start this journey alone?”

You CAN launch a first iteration of your Media to DMM strategy alone! In the case study video featured on the homepage, the story started with ONE person and no media experience. Yet he was convinced that media was a strategic access tool and committed himself to learning how to use it. He started with what he had and then looked for what he needed. He utilized his strengths of apostolic vision and perseverance and supplemented his weaknesses. He started alone but is now surrounded by strategic partnerships.

What started off as a messy, yet basic, first attempt has grown into a still imperfect advanced system of moving parts. Thankfully we can all learn from and be accelerated by others who have blazed the trails before us.

Now, you can start alone, but you shouldn’t plan to do it alone. There are essential roles we recommend be filled when starting your M2DMM strategy. The same person can wear all the hats or you can find others to join you in your vision.

Recommended Starting Roles:

Visionary Leader

You need someone who can keep the whole strategy and every piece aligned with the vision. This person also needs to be able to evaluate when the strategy has moved away from the vision and needs to be realigned. This person helps push through roadblocks and blazes new trails.

Content Developer/Marketer

This role is crucial for connecting with seekers in your target audience. This person will need to be able to lead the way in the answering the following questions:

  • What will your content say?
    • You will need to be able to brainstorm and plan media content that will help seekers discover, share, and obey God’s Word and ultimately lead to face-to-face meetings.
  • How will your content look?
    • You will need to be able to display this content through various means of media (e.g. pictures and videos.) There are many great tools to help non-graphic designer folks make quality looking content.
  • How will seekers find your content?
    • You will need to learn how to strategically use ads so that your people group will see and be able to engage with your content.

Digital Responder

This role interacts with seekers online until they are ready to meet offline.


This role connects online seekers with offline disciplers. The dispatcher makes sure that every seeker who wants to meet face-to-face does NOT fall through the cracks. He assesses a seeker’s readiness for an offline meeting and pairs them with a fitting multiplier. (e.g. male to male, region of country, language, etc.)


Multipliers are your face-to-face disciple makers. These folks are the ones who meet with seekers in coffee shops, give them the Bible, read through it with them, and encourage them to discover, share, and obey God’s Word. The number of needed multipliers will correlate with the demand from your online media platform. 

Coalition Developer

This role would be needed if you plan on working with a group of multipliers to help manage seekers coming from media sources. A coalition developer would need to make sure that each new coalition member is aligned with the vision and that the coalition is meeting to discuss victories and challenges happening with face-to-face meetings. There are a lot of tools out there to help non-techy people start a website and launch social media pages. Yet, you will likely need someone who is capable of Googling solutions to problems as they arise, and they will. As you identify more complicated technical needs that would help accelerate your strategy, you can search for others to fill those needs. You don’t need a programer nor graphic designer to get started, however they might become extremely useful, potentially necessary, as your strategy grows more complex.
