Pick Your Name and Brand

Pick Your Name and Brand
  1. Choose a Name
    1. You will want a clear and concise, location specific, easily spelled, and easy to remember name. Some examples are “Jesus In Istanbul,” “Isa Al-masih In Ghana,” or “Wolof Following Jesus”
    2. If you are working in multiple languages, keep in mind some things will not translate well.
    3. You may want to consider getting a URL with the same name and alternate spellings. Choose a URL extension such as .com or .net. You may want to avoid country specific top-level domains like ‘.tz’ because it falls under the control of that’s country’s government.
    4. Keep security in mind as you pick a name and make branding decisions.
  2. Choose a Tagline
    1. A simple, clear purpose statement helps keep branding consistent and on-target. Your tagline will clarify who you are targeting, elicit a stronger response from that target area, and filter out those not interested, thus saving money on advertising. Choose something that aligns with your overarching objective and reflects your persona research. An example could be, “Zimbabwean Christians discovering, sharing, and obeying Jesus.”
  3. Select Colors
    1. Choose specific colors that you will use in your logo, social media platform and website. Consistently using the same colors will help your audience recognize your brand. Colors have different meanings to each culture, so get ideas and feedback from the group you are serving.
  4. Design a Logo
    1. You will want to design a simple and versatile logo. Be as consistent as possible with the logo. Choose simple fonts that are legible and go for a consistent color scheme.
