Identify Your Media Platform
When picking your media platform, it is important to keep in mind the persona you are trying to reach, the security concerns of a platform in your respective country, and your capabilities and skill level.
Here are some questions to consider when picking your media platform:
- When your target people group is online, where are they going? It may be helpful to research what media platforms are most popular in your country and the demographic group of your personas.
- Check out Digital World Atlas to research relevant information for your target audience.
- How and where do local businesses and organizations advertise online?
- What are the most frequently visited websites and the most used messaging apps?
- How prevalent are smartphones, the use of email, and text messaging among your people group?
- Which media platforms do you think will work best for your context? WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Google Ads, etc.?
- What security risks do you need to consider for your media platforms?
- Do you need a legitimate business to run ads on the platform? If so, do you have a business or know a digital hero or organization you can partner with that has a business?
- What skills do you need to learn to set up and run the media platform?
Take some time to research and think through the above questions, and decide which media platform you will try first.
